FADiSA – Foundation for Aviation Development in Southern Africa .

In principal our focus is on – Training Program Management - for Skills Development Fund (SDF) – specifically in the Aviation Sector  - with the primary focus – currently on the career Path: “Flight training”  and related Skills / Competencies.

Skills Development Management Program:

Skills Development Funding (SDF) - is a component / function - of the overall strategy:

Education and Skills Development Program for Aviation (ESDPA)  - based on Career Skills Path Management (CSPM) programmes – and individual: Training Course Route Map (TCRM) – developed to the diverse needs of each candidate, based on contemporary quality management and the acceptable SAQA outcomes objectives.

FADiSA candidates receive training from various selected / accredited and contracted service providers - Aviation Training Organizations (ATO’s) each presenting / providing lateral and horizontal specialized skills development and experience functions – to deliver an outcomes based competency. (Objective: Employable Commercial Pilot – though with the minimum / limited hours experience, will have a clear advantage in the market place - with demonstrated capacity and competency – and life skill advantages).

Skills Development Fund (SDF) – focus on funding for candidates / applicants – primarily:

A) Bursaries for minority groups (in aviation), and –

B) Financing for any applicant.

Primarily – 2 sources of funding to the foundation -

1) Donations (from 3rd. parties) – (These funds are converted into “bursaries”.

2) Alliances with financial institutions - generate / negotiate – Skills Development Loans, for applicants (with very favorable terms and minimum guarantees).

There are varied degrees and qualification requirements – for applicants, in the qualifying matrix – different to “bursaries” than “loans”. FADiSA – application process is streamlined and transparent. All “financial assistance” (bursaries / finance) - is divided in 2 sections – A) Aviation Specific Funds (to obtain aviation related skills (competencies) and experience)  and - B) Ancillary  funding (to assist with interrelated costs – such as accommodation, transport, food, etc.)

The current focus is supporting candidates from -  PPL (Pvt Pilots License 45 hrs) to CPL (commercial pilots license 200hrs) practical flight experience, theory, life practicalities etc. During the training phase – is to include ratings (matrix /horizontally) – such as tail dragger, aerobatics (advanced flight training), night rating, etc. (Objective: Employable Commercial Pilot – though with limited hours experience, a clear advantage - with demonstrated capacity and competency).

Note:  As the competencies / capacity of FADiSA develop – SDF solutions will be developed for all the other aviation career paths – that require CAR (Civil Aviation Regulation) – competencies and experience – such as: Certified mechanics, ATC (Air traffic controllers), Air hostesses, etc. (Similarly solutions will be developed to accommodate – recreation and entry level (PPL) flight training – as a broad base sector development - for human capital resources.)
